I had driven by the building many times and always wondered what type of business it was. Then a sign on the side of the building caught my eye. Weight Loss Boot Camp begins October 15th. I had tried everything else and nothing seemed to work for long or keep the weight off. What did I have to lose (but the weight), so I finally got the courage to walk into Fitness By Design.
I was close to tears as I went to the front desk and asked for help. I was a recent cancer survivor with thyroid problems. I was beginning to feel hopeless and helpless. Kara and Chad were very helpful in explaining the services that FBD offered. I immediately felt that this was the place for me. These people cared about me. About what I needed and how they could help me. The weight loss class has taught me many things such as how to eat, what to eat, what to look for when shopping and how to read nutrition labels. Of course, those are just a few of the tidbits of information I learned. I’ve also learned how to be accountable for my actions. I’m the only one who puts the food in my mouth, so I’m the only one who can stop putting the food in my mouth. By keeping a food diary I learned what foods work for me, how many calories a day keep my body running efficiently and burn the excess fat and that it’s okay to have a small piece of chocolate cake from time to time. There is no need to berate myself for falling off the wagon, I just get right back on the next day. I find myself looking forward to the Monday evening meetings. I can’t wait to see what new information Kara has for the group as well as hearing how the rest of the group did during the week. What problems they had and what tricks they used to work around them. Not only is Kara my weight loss coach, but she is also my personal trainer having inherited me when Carrie left the fold. Working out 2 days a week has also been an important component in my battle of the bulge. Not only has it helped get me in the best physical condition I have ever been in, it has also helped me get in the best mental condition. I went from shying away from the gym to not being able to live without working out. I really enjoy my daily work out. Sure I complain like everybody else does about having to do that one extra chin up or bicep curl but when I don’t get my daily cardio or my twice a week weight training session I can really feel the difference. It has been 18 months, almost 30 lbs and 7+ inches around my hips since I first walked through the door of FBD. I still have a ways to go, but I know that I’m not in this fight alone. I have the FBD group as my wing man. Marika B ~ 2009 |

I started the fitness boot camp classes in January to get healthy and lose weight. To date I have lost 30lbs, surpassing my original goal of 25lbs. There were times it seemed like I could not do it but I made it thru and felt great afterward. Unlike my previous experiences with personal trainers, Rob seems to really care about what he’s doing. He takes the time to explain what we will be doing that day, what muscles it works and the proper way to do the exercises. I have recommended it to friends and told them it works if you let it. You have to give it your best and push yourself and you will see results. Thanks to Caroline for recommending it to me.

When I started Boot Camp a year ago, my main objectives were to lose weight and, with that, get in shape. The experience has shown me that what I have lost is not as important as what I’ve gained.
During the first few weeks I wondered, “What was I thinking?”, “This is too hard!”, and “I can’t do this.” I was sore every day, not just to move but to actually touch any muscle. I compared Rob’s endurance classes to child birth; painful, seemed to last forever, ecstatic when it was over, and no recall of the exercises that were done. I am happy to say that has all changed and I genuinely enjoy class (most days). What has surprised me the most is the internal strength it has shown me. When exercising, I had to find an inner toughness to continue. Many times I would say I couldn’t do something and the next thing I knew, I had done it. I am sure Rob’s voice in my ear helped to motivate me. In the long run, I could have quit at any time but I found it rewarding to see what I could do. I like the way it makes me feel physically and emotionally. In regards to weight loss and getting in shape, I feel the getting in shape is the more important of the two. I don’t like to weigh myself or use that as my gauge for how I am doing. I prefer to keep track of my measurements and I have been pleased with my results from Boot Camp. I measured my breast, waist, bikini line, hips, each thigh and each arm on a monthly basis. Over the past year, I have lost over 20 inches. More than half of that occurred in the first 6 months. I have lost 3 inches off each of the main body measurements. My total weight loss so far is 15 pounds. I have also enjoyed the other people in the class. They really help to keep me motivated and make it fun. I have seen people come and go but I wonder if they have given the class enough time to get over the “initial trauma” and begin to tap their potential. I want to thank Rob and his staff for what they do but mostly I want to thank my friend, Ann, who encouraged me to start. S. Ivkovich |

For eleven years I have had the great fortune of working out with the same trainer, Chad Distler (although sometimes I didn’t think so during the workout). He has been outstanding and has always given me the encouragement and motivation to improve my strength and fitness level. Over eleven plus years I have seen my body go from pear-shaped and unfit to a strong body with wide shoulders, slim waistline and strong legs. I am very happy with these results which I could not have achieved on my own. -Chad. Luis C. |

My husband and I attended your Fat Loss Boot Camp in October 2007. We have continued using the tools you taught us during our time with you. It was definitely a life altering change, and it was the jump start we needed to have a healthy lifestyle. I have lost a total of 19 lbs. and 11 inches from my waist and hips. We started incorporating strength training and cardio, and have been transforming our bodies. My husband has lost a total of 30 lbs. I would like to thank you for giving us the tools needed to change our lives. |

Fitness by Design has provided me with the opportunity to become a very strong and very self-confident woman. Thanks to the consistent support and encouragement of my trainer, Mark Moreland, I have been coached to appreciate and enjoy the results of being a dedicated client. The Fitness by Design 30-minute workout concept is a perfect fit for my busy life and the results are amazing. My thanks to everyone at FBD |

My trainer, Andria, has been a G-dsend to me. I’m over 50 and have never exercised in my life (I hated it!). Now I look forward to it. She has the answers to my many questions and adapts my routine around my physical needs. She’s got a great personality and makes a great teacher. She knows her stuff! |

I have finally found the class in which I have been seeking for a long time. The Boot Camp class, which meets four times a week for an hour, has exceeded my expectations. Alternating strength training and endurance training has been great. Every workout is different. Not one class has been the same since I started six weeks ago. I commend Rob Hudson for his creativity and knowledge which he incorporates in each class. The energy, motivation, and hard work are promoted by fellow classmates and Rob. It is a win-win class. I feel stronger, leaner, and have more energy. |

I started coming to Fitness by Design when you were still on Meridian Street. Kara Paris was recommended to me and so started our journey. I needed to work through some medical issues and having Kara deal with my heart rate allowed me to concentrate on my workout. Even though I tease Kara about wall sits and four hundred pound weights, she has been an absolute joy to work out with. She definitely cares and she listens. We have worked through some physical issues and she is always willing to recommend something new to try. She inspires me on days that I do not want to do anything and the time goes quickly. It is rare that I have a substitute trainer, but when I do, all have been delightful. It seems like a big family between trainers and clients as well. My experience has been great and I love the new location. Thank you. |
